30/05/2024

Erwin Lund, senior project manager development at Interparking Nederland, received on May 28th the ESPA Gold Award for the Willemspoort parking garage from Peter Dingemans, vice chairman of Vexpan. This award is the distinction for parking garages of exceptionally high quality, safety and customer friendliness and is awarded and presented in the Netherlands by Vexpan; the leading platform for parking in the Netherlands.

Willemspoort parking garage, with 350 parking spaces and fully owned by Interparking, is located in the future Willemspoort Zuid residential area, opposite the Jeroen Bosch Hospital on the southwestern side of Den Bosch. Since its opening in July 2023, this parking facility has been a valuable addition to the hospital's existing garage, which Interparking has been successfully operating for years and which was also awarded an ESPA Gold Award in 2017. Erwin Lund stated: “We are extremely happy with this award; our 8th ESPA Gold Award in addition to the 46 regular ESPA awards that we already have. I am especially proud of our team for jointly achieving this impressive achievement and would like to thank everyone for their efforts.”

Special form of parking facility requires creativity

The unique triangular shape of the Willemspoort parking garage challenged Interparking to think creatively about the design and layout, with spatiality and routing paramount. Erwin Lund, senior development project manager, explained: “A carefree parking experience is central to Interparking. We advised the builder to use wedges for ascending and descending traffic, which allowed us to create wide carriageways and one-way traffic. In addition, the final design offers column-free parking spaces with diagonal parking and clearly marked pedestrian lanes for a clear and safe routing for pedestrians.”

Ease of use for visitors
Visitors make their payments via debit or credit card, resulting in faster processing. In addition, the parking facility has 16 parking spaces with charging facilities and is already prepared for a future expansion to 60 charging spaces.
